The Rocky Mountain Region of the United States includes 6 states: Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Utah and Wyoming. Colorado

Colorado has the highest low point in the US with an elevation of 3315 feet at the Arikaree River. Its high point is Mt Elbert, the 3rd highest peak in the US at 14,433 feet. The capital of Colorado is Denver. Colorado has a population of 4,601,403 as of 2004, and is bordered by Arizona, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Utah. Colorado was added as a state August 1, 1876 and has a land area of 103,718 sq. miles, the 8th largest in the US. The state bird is the Lark Bunting and the State Flower is the Rocky Mountain Columbine.

Idaho

The Capital of Idaho is Boise, which is bordered by Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming. It became a US State on July 3, 1890. Idaho had a population of 1,393,262 as of 2004, and has a land area of 82,747 sq. miles. Borha Peak at 12,662 feet is the high point, and the low point is the Snake River at 710 feet. The Idaho state bird is the Mountain Bluebird, and the state flower is the Syringa.

Montana

Montana has a land area of 145,552 sq. miles and a population of 926,865 as of 2004. The Capital is Helena. Montana was added as a US State on November 08, 1889. The state bird is the Western Meadowlark, and the state flower is the Bitterroot. The highest point is Montana is Granite Peak at 12,799 (10th highest), and its lowest point is at the Kootenai River at 1800 feet. Montana is bordered by Idaho, North Dakota, South Dakota and Wyoming.

Nevada

The capital of Nevada is Carson City. Nevada has a population of 2,334,771 as of 2004, has a land area of 109,826 sq. miles, borders Arizona, California, Idaho, Oregon and Utah and was added as a US state October 31, 1864. Nevada's highest point is Boundary Peak at 13,143 feet (9th highest US point), and lowest point is the Colorado River at 470 feet. The Nevada State flower is the Sagebrush, and the state bird is the Mountain Bluebird.

Utah

Utah has a land area of 82,144 sq. miles, and had a population of 2,389,039 as of 2004. The Utah state bird is The American Common Gull, and the state flower is the Sego Lily. It is bordered by Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico and Wyoming. The highest point of Utah is Kings Peak which measures in at 13,528 feet (7th highest in US) and the lowest point is Beaverdam Creek at 2000 feet. Salt Lake City is the Capital of Utah, which was added as a US State on January 4, 1896.

Wyoming

Wyoming had a population of 506,529 as of 2004, and has a land area of 97,100 sq miles. The Capital of Wyoming is Cheyenne. It was added as a US State on July 10, 1890. The Wyoming state bird is the Western Meadowlark and the state flower is the Indian Paintbrush. It is bordered by Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nebraska, South Dakota and Utah. Gannet Peak at 13,804 feet is the highest point in Wyoming, and the lowest point is 3,099 feet at the Belle Fourche River.
